Ward records very brief and poorly spelled notes on the regiment's movements through Maryland and Virginia, mentioning Stafford Court House and Aquia Creek. He notes the meeting between Lincoln and Burnside and discusses the battle of Fredericksburg including the burning of the city, the laying of the pontoon bridges and the assault on Marye's Heights which he describes as it is occuring. He mentions retreat and new camp until his discharge on December 30.
